If love, secularism, and reason seem like they've been long forgotten, the 15th Century poet-saint Kabirdas' words serve as a reminder of those very virtues.
In reverence of the great weaver-poet, Sparsh Life Innovations are organising Kabir – The Musical Journey, which is a celebration of the messages of Kabir through musical events performed by different Indian artistes and bands. As listeners will immerse themselves in the melody, their souls harmonised with the words of Kabir, we intend to promote our rich culture and spread goodwill through SantKabirdas' earthy metaphors.
Kabir - The Musical Journey will be an annual event, spread across multiple seasons and cities. This event is to be held at Varanasi, a place about which Mark Twain once rightly said:
“Varanasi is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together.”
Spread across 3 days and commencing at the banks of Ganges, the finale of the journey will be held on Sant Kabir's birthday on the 9th of June at Lehar Tara in Varanasi - the city of bhakti, classical and light classical, folk, dance, and Music.
One God, formless, in all, and everywhere!
- Sant Kabir
Weaving cloth and words of devotion, love, and reason, weaver Poet and Sufi-Saint,
Kabirdas of the 15th century, remains the greatest and the most secular mystic Indian saint of all times.
Kabirdas' verses and words have traversed across four centuries, and all boundaries, to remain relevant and revered even today. The exponent of the Bhakti Movement of Medieval India characterized by utter devotion to and unwavering, unquestionable faith in God – Kabirdas sang of selflessness, compassion, and secularism. Neither an ascetic nor meditating for hour in forests, Kabir was a voice of reason and preacher of fair-mindedness.
About his birth
Legend has it that Sant Kabir was found on a lotus leaf in the lake Lahar Tara in Varanasi - one of the most spiritual places on Earth, a city about which Mark Twain has rightly said:
&lsdquo;Varanasi is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together”
Kabirdas‘s works
Kabir&squo;s works consists of couplets or ‘Kabir ke Dohe’ that he composed in a succinct, pragmatic, and relatable tone, replete with keen imagery. His words are steeped in mysticism and the sublime. The exponent of Nirguna Bhakti, or formless devotion, Kabir experienced supreme love, exceeding kindness, and compassion for all.
Another side of Kabir‘s persona was the absolute fearlessness and denunciation of all formalities and ritualism, and condemnation of conventions. As he travelled across the country singing songs, he didn‘t desire a following. The social revolutionary ardently stood for social, moral and spiritual empowerment of the people.
Over 400 years later, the saint&squo;s dohe (couplets) still reflect deep philosophy. His songs are melodious, metaphoric, heartrending, and an expression of devotion and love.
In his Dohes and poems, a wide range of mystical emotion is brought into play - expressed in homely metaphors and religious symbols drawn without distinction from Hindu and Islamic beliefs.
Kabir is the answer to all the extremism in today‘s world, which has spread its roots around the globe.

Legend has it that Sant Kabir was found on a lotus leaf in the lake Lahar Tara in arguably the holiest city of the world.
Today, this place is abode to a huge temple complex and a lake. Millions of people from different religions hold his birthplace in high esteem, and would want it to achieve a similar stature as the Vatican is to Christianity, or the Golden Temple is to Sikhism. With the able support of Sadguru Prakatya Dham in Varanasi and his Holiness Panth Shri Hajur Ardhnam Saheb, we have also taken up the onus of cleaning, beautifying, and restoring the glory of Kabir's birthplace, which is supremely sacred to his followers.
